viper alarm won't dis-arm itself
I have a viper alarm, the one with the non-digital remote, and it works fine with a while, then it seems to not dis-arm itself once and while, I dont know if it has to do with the climate or what. Today there was alot of morning dew on my car and it wouldnt dis-arm itself, i ended up walking to work. Its happened once before that on a really hot day. If I leave the car for a few hours and come back it seems to work. any ideas?

It may be a problem with a cold solder joint, [poor connection] in the RF section, [the part that receives the signal from the remote] of the alarm, or if it has a plug in ant. it could be the ant. itself or the connection to the alarm.
Try this, next time it will not disarm, try the manual override to turn off the alarm. 94

There should be a small push button momentary switch under the dash some place, turn on ign. push and hold the button till alarm stops. Do you know what model it is? 94

Was the alarm in the car when you got it, [the car]?
All DEI alarms come with 2 remotes, here in Canada anyway.
If you had a second remote you could eliminate the remote as the problem 94

Oh so somebody out there has a remote for your alarm
At this point what I would do is, get another remote erase all remotes and program the new one and reprogram the one you have, If the new remote gives you no problems, you will know it was your old remote that was the problem, or you can pull the alarm and ant. and send them along with your remote to DEI and have them check it out, as the alarm came with the car, you have no warranty on it so anything you do is going to cost you.
It may be time to think about a new alarm, get it and have it installed at an authorized dealer, that way you will get a lifetime warranty on the alarm, [one year on remotes] and the main thing is the lifetime warranty on the install, so the next time you run into a problem, they will deal with it. 94

thanks for the info, I'm trying to avoid buying a new alarm. The guy that had the car before me was an alarm installer and he did a good job doing a stealth install. Also I multiple kill switch's to slow them down. I'm gona try a new remote. Will my friends remote work if we reprogram it, its the next level up with the lcd interface.
