Moderators I apologize if this is in the wrong forum but I thought since this would mostly be directed at drag racers I would put it here.
My question is those of you that are doing the Liberty Face Plated gears, are you sending them to racerstev for heat treating afterwards?? Also are you happy with the face plating? How is it holding up? I shattered my heat treated GSR gear set after only making 1 pass on them, I think I need a Tilton fluid control valve too as I wasn't able to preload very well with the twin disk.

I just talk to racersteve about this and he said that need to send him the gears first. My gear set is on the way back from faceplating. I wish i would have known that first. I would also like to know how it is holding up for other people. Hope to be able to run mine at the next ifo.
I haven't seen heat treating them really help out... I've had my transmission out and apart twice since i put the faceplates in and the gears and hubs still look like new! They have even been through a 1-2-1 shift! :/ But all of them look great still!
How long have you been running them. What oil did you run in the trans. How much power have you put on them.
I still use honda transmission fluid... I have had them since october. About 1k-2k miles on them. I was only making low to mid 400s. I know that's not much power, but i have already had experience with cryoing my countershaft and ring gear previously and it didn't seem to help. I have mostly heard from many others on here saying it didn't make a difference also...

i did NOT have my face plated gears heat treated. theyre almost a year old, have about 12 test and tunes, 2 events, and a few nights out on them. still shifts perfect! i couldnt be happier with them. if only it didnt take 3 months to get em back from liberty.....

Just the actual gears? so no need to send final drive or anything else? I know when I sent my gears to racersteve last year I sent everything to him
You send them the gears that need the work done on them.. Since the final drive has nothing to do with shifting gears, there is no need to send it to them. All they need are the gears you want to have faceplated and the hubs/sliders I believe.
sorry to bump this back up.
so this gets rid of all the stock sleeves then? thinking about doing this rather than replacing all my crapped out sleeves.
