Default sk2 pro2 cams

Well my buddy bought some pro2s for his b20vtec. the head has dual valve springs and titanium retainer along with a p+p. So he has the valve train for them.

My question is I installed the cams adjusted the valves to .007in and .008eh. Went by sk2 guidelines and put the exhaust cam advanced 4* and the intake cam 2*. Went to take it for a drive and at 5k right when vtec should engage its just break up and wont rev any higher. Not throwing any codes either.

Has anyone ran these cams in a b20vtec setup before and what did you do to install them? Need to fix it so he can go get it tuned

First question: Is this head milled or the blocked decked???
Second question: Is your cam gears setting; E+4, I+2???

Um I don't know about the head being milled I know it has some work done to it. I had the cams setup +4* eh and +2*in and still broke up so I called sk2 and they told me to set it at +4* ex and 0*in. So that's what I did and it idles and runs decent doesn't break up anymore. Just makes no power in vtec witch is expected without a tune. Columbia is going to give a street tune this weekend until he can afford dyno time.

This is not my car it is a buddys that i new to the game

Do not expect any car with a large cam to run well before tuning.

Pretty dangerous to run it hard without a tune also.

when i first put in my pro2's untuned the car would barley even run at all let alone going out and beating on it. i mean jesus, this is not a type r cam guys, you cant just drop these cams in and run it, they MUST be tuned and installed by someone who knows what they are doing.

Well I have been messing with these cars for awhile I kno what im doing. He just barley engaged vtec to see if it would work. I called sk2 and got all the specs and installed them to sk2s spec. Columbia is going to street tune it tonight until he can afford dyno time.

I know......why put these cams on stock b20 pistons. I tried to tell homeboy that but he didn't listen. I just met him a little bit ago and he thinks he knows what hes talking about be he don't. He plans on building the block. so Thanks h-t and i will tell yall how it runs after the tune

Those cams were being run at dangerously close with your initial setting for Vtec... Im glad u spread them a bit... A lot of the engine's characteristics changes with these cams, so a good tune is essential to the health of this motor... BTW, what are you guys using to tune??

Um im not sure what columbia is going to use to tune it. Its just getting a street tune to be safe. Should he have to worry about piston to valve clearance with stock b20 pistons? its a gsr head

Well got the car tuned ad it was very disappointing did not have to worry about pistons to valve clearance at all Just not enough compression for that big of a cam gonna take them out to he gets more mods and build his spare b20 block
