Default Almost sideswiped misshift

So basically this morning, I almost got sideswiped into a big rig. I don't know if I was in the persons blind spot or if they just weren't paying attention. For the record, yes they did the full merge over I definately would have went sideways infront of a big rigs tire.

Anyway, I panic threw it up @ about 85 and went into third. As soon as I saw it shoot up I knew I fk'd up and caught it as fast as I could. I haven't heard anything abnormal yet, in about 5 minutes of the rest of my drive. I know none of you can say 100% without listening to my engine but would that be enough to screw something up? What would the reprocussions of a misshift be? Valve springs / retainers? Worse?

MY06 ... sigh

piston hits valve. if its driving fine, no noises, it should be fine.
we had an 06 civic si come in with a quarter hole in the piston.
3rd gear 98mph. misshifted and piston slapped the valve breaking it
off into the cylinder. only cylinder 4 wasnt massacred. the rest were done.

I know 75mph is sitting around 8200 rpms, if I had to guess 82-85 would be around 9-9.2k? In our f22's is the valvetrain any different than the f20's? It seems like it would be a pretty tame miss-shift.

I was pretty pissed when I caught it, but then I thought.... some bent valves are better than a hospital bed or a grave.

do a leak down to check the valves. they car will still run ok with slightly bent valves, but not for long before it drops one.

i believe the f22c's can be revved to 9k without damage... you might have just got a scare... how badly damaged is ur car??? i would blame the accident on the damage to the engine... just act stupid...

My engine (before this morning) seems like it's been in a very healthy condition. I have one ding on my fender, if you're referring to the body. I missed what would have been a very disasterous situation by about 2-3 ft

Based on your description it sounds that the damage is minimal if any at all.

At a cold start, there is a noise... but to be honest I've never really tooken notes on what a healthy idle sounded like from the outside. The sound remind me of belt noise, should this be there? I feel kinda dumb not paying attention to what my idle sounded like before. Also from what my ears tell me, it seems to be comming to the right of the engine... near/under/around the throttle body, but I don't have the greatest ears.

Is a noise in this area normal? I don't want to call it a tick, it reminds me of the sound my sentra made when the belts got wet.

Thanks for the help guys
