I am thinking that I want a ball bearing turbo, but I don't want a monster sized one. I was thinking about going with a 60 or 70 a.r. charge housing and around 48 or 60 exhaust housing. I just want to be good to around 400whp and I want to spool as fast as possible. I have some research, and it looks like there are a lot of turbos that would work for these goals. I just don't want to get something that is going to be under-utilized either. What are some of your suggestions, and where would be a good place to find one for a good deal? Thanks.

Oh sorry. I have a B16 with a built bottom end(stock sleeves), springs and retainers, Mynes ramhorn manifold, Tial components. As far as the size goes, I'd like something that will be in/close to full boost by 3500/4000 rpm, and will take me to around 400hp.
GT3071R with a .63 turbine would be better than it's 76mm big brother from a boost onset perspective and will make the power you want.
The first dan will have other options for you outside of Garrett that will most likely be more budget friendly. I would trust him before I would trust LighteningTeg or myself! (grin)

So then, not to make it a WTB add, but is there anything that anyone is getting rid of for a good deal? I have one offer, but it's the GT3076. Not that I won't go with that. I just want to see what is out there, cheaper than $900.00. Used is probably the option I'll have ot go with, but that is o.k. with me.
Those are the only ones with that powerband that are going to be plentiful used for $900. Won't find anything like that new. You could always go for the Precision series if you're looking for responsiveness (which is more in the wheels used than the CHRA itself). You'd be surprised on how Journal Bearings can work when its the right combination.
Well, you're going to sacrifice a little of that no matter what. More power = less response. Can't beat physics.
(JB = Journal Bearing Cartridge 360 degree assumed)
But If going Precision you can go with the 5857 JB or the Garrett GT3000 JB

I ran a GT28RS that made just under 400 WHP on a B16, and a GT2871R that made just over 400 WHP, and that was on B16A2 cams. Both spooled quickly, but the GT28RS spooled freakishly quickly and was a lot more fun. Both had ATP T3-flange turbines, the largest available for each turbo, I think a .86A/R.
The manifold and downpipe make a difference too, I switched from a InlinePro cast SS -w- a 2.5" DP to a LoveFab SST (big ramhorn mani) -w- a 3" downpipe and picked up a lot of power leaving everything else the same.
Agreed. If the goal is 400whp, the 5557 could even be used.

I guess I'll have to wait for something to come up, the only things I've found are just as much as a low mile used gtr3076. Damn! Well, Ive said it before, and I'll say it again:
You have to have money to play these games! Cough it up son!

Thanks for the direction guys. And "Shodan" when you get a chance, help a fellow Judoka out with a good deal on something that would fit my needs well, and not hurt my pocket too horribly. I hear you are good at that. Thanks.
