Default fuel pump/sending unit problem

Has anyone had any issues with there sending unit? I thought i was getting bad mpgs, i filled up and put 90 miles of interstate driving and at 90 miles i was just hardly above half and i went and filled up and it only took 2.9 gallons to fill me up!!! I found a brandnew pump/sending unit for 175$ so i guess its not a huge issue.

Never heard of anyone having an issue. One way to avoid getting bad gas that could damage the float is to always buy your gas from name brand, larger gas stations. I never get from anything other than Chevron and never the hole in the wall middle of nowhere stations.

This problem happens here and there, i went on a 900 mile road trip and on one tank of gas it read empty at 250 miles, then i filled up and it only need 8 gallons, then after that it went 330 miles before my gas light came on!!! so it is here and there problem.
