Icon2 Opinions: Takeda SRI VS. Injen CAI (Poll)

I am going to be spending my tax returns on I/H and some accessories for the FG2, and I want to start researching to get the best prices/specs.

Im already set on getting the Strup Header. Great reviews, proven gains, and affordability.

Now I live in NY and we get rain but not heavy rain.
Would it be safer to stick with the Takeda Short Ram (Chose Takeda for the best HP gain),
or should I just get the Injen CAI?

Thanks.

-Ryan

i voted for the injen. i had the sri and i loved it. i hear nothing but good things from the cai as well. as far as the 17hp gain takeda claims, thats bs. but also you need to take into consideration that you're from long island. does it rain a lot? any big puddles where you normally drive when it rains? you know just stuff like that. those little things can save you a motor and the stress of finding an alternative way of getting to work unless you dont have another car. i always rock a sri here where im at because it floods real bad when it rains and it doesnt help my whole area is a flash flood area.

Yeah there is a big picture people are missing eveyone look up intake tuning that wants to really learn about it. like i posted in the manifold discussion. if you have a shorter intake tubing and a longer intake tubing both with equal diameters your going to see different numbers in different areas. with the shorter tubing your going to free up restriction while the engine is spining high rpms. which is why people on the dyno may actually see a higher number with a short ram. loss of midrange but higher number people to be more happy to see then efficent power. with a longer intake tubing the air that is comming into your engine will be traveling at a higher velocity. this will increase your mid range and low end power. it may or may no effect your high rpm. if it is truely a good cold air you will see an increase all across the board. personally im going with the CAI.
1 heat soak like many people said. i would rather have( colder air = more dense air = more air) less heat going to my engine you can tune it to much more of an extreem.
2 i will purchase a water bypass and a filter sock so i dont have to worry about water
3 im not dumb enough to drive through a puddle knowing i have a CAI. accidents happen but attention is key

^sometimes there isnt anything you can do. and a bypass valve and filter sock wont help when you submerge your filter lol

since I can't vote yet lol I like going with injen stuff, I don't really have a rhyme or reason to why I just prefer them over other brands. Cold air intakes are just pipes with a filter though so its kinda hard to mess up I don't think the brand matters really as long as the filter is good quality and the bends are correct.

I voted for the Takeda SRI I had the Injen Cai and it was a great investment but during the rainy season here in cali wasnt recommended to have that Cai. Now as far the hp with takeda yea it is outrageous but it does have a few like 2+hp over the Cai. Imo i would go with a sri.

Takeda.

I can't afford it, but if you can, you should.

Well, I would say niether one. Do you have flashpro? If not, spend your money and get that. If you do, I would go ahead and pop for the Passwrod JDM Power Chamber. It's a shortramm in design due to it being in the engine compartment, but it sucks air from the location of the stock bateery area (it comes with a relocation). Or if you feel froggy and are confident in your craftsmanship, build a cowl induction intake. The only draw back from that setup is you won't see your gains on a dyno as the cowl induction works as the car is at traveling speed.

pwjdm intake = waste of money. N also since the design is mainly carbon wrapped style it loses power believe it or not. Crack and lil hose in the material is not good at all. And as far as the intake system your talking about a few have tried it but failed due to the fact that it pics up alot of debris and you do not want that stuff in your engine. Fact of the matter is myself as well as a few friends went from cai intakes to sri and noticed a diff with flashpro and other mods. Ask my friend max aka i-vtec he and I had the same Cai system which was injen and both have been replaced with sri. Shop around and for the best price for the sri and when u do find one get it.

I've heard the same thing about the PWJDM, but I personally can attest to it's gains, but every engine and supporting mods handel things differently. So no argument there. Now as for the cowl induction, I can't see how debris would get in the engine. There is a filter there for that reason, now if the few you are speaking of had that happen, then that sounds like a design flaw. it's pretty much the same concept as the Gruppe M intake system but for a whole lot less in terms of the cash spent.

Takeda. I wouldn't give to much thought about heat soak, were not talking super gt here. Oh and if your takeda intakes ccv hose is so short it's kinked like mine was, go get like 2ft of 5/8th hose for your ccv. If not eventually you'll start burnig oil.

Takeda Cold Air Intakes shouldnt soak in or retain heat from the engine at all. The heat shield provided with the air intake is made to enclose the filter so when the hood is closed it makes a "seal' around the filter so it only pulls fresh air in.

The intake tube itself on long runs could potentially get hotter and knock off a few horses but only on long 100 mile or more trips.

PM me for deals and more info.

Thanks
