Rear brake disc question
so today just for the hell of it i wanted to see how hot the brake discs were, since i had just got home after driving around. I was on curvy roads so i used the brakes quit a bit. Anyway i went to feel the rear brakes and they were cold, just barley even warm..Both of them were like this. The front rotors were Hot they way they should be.
Any ideas to way this could be.
My car is a 92 civic VX and has 2000 Civic Si brake conversion.I just noticed this today so i haven't tired anything yet..
BTW the car brakes good but the steering wheel shakes when hard braking, like when getting off the freeway or going down a hill.

because you only do about 30% of your entire braking on your back brakes.
that conversion besides for ease of changing and looks isn't worth it. you wont get anymore if not less braking power from discs in the rear without 2/4 puck calipers, SS brake lines and whatnot.
so id say its working as it should. cept for that hard braking.

that vibrating during hard braking sounds like warped rotors. you can either replace them with new ones or get them machined..from my experience, replacing them is way cheaper if you can do it yourself (very simple job)!!

Don't even get slotted. Get blanks. OEM, Brembo, Wagner, there are lots of others ... or even better, something not made in China. Consider buying North American.
but before you even do that, loosen the lug nuts on the front and torque them properly. if that doesnt help, THEN buy new rotors.

nice ill do that first. good idea, yea when i said i was planing on getting new ones i had brembo blanks in mind. also maybe some Hawk pads if i have enough left over
I just changed out my rear disc rotors and pads. I bought Duralast for both from Autozone. Limited life time warranty on the pads and two year warranty on the rotors. Can't go wrong with that, especially for a dd like mine!
did you upgrade the master cylinder/brake booster when you upgraded the brakes? if you don't get a bigger master cylinder to push more fluid(which is what you need for disc brakes), then your "upgraded" brakes aren't going to do much
also dont forget to change the brake proportioning valve. drum brakes have less brake fluid going to them. with a proportioning valve from a 4 wheel disc car its like 50/50 between front and rear calipers
