Default Squeaky Rear Brakes?

I've got a dx coupe with the rear drums. I am getting squeaks when I engage or disengage the brake peddle. The squeaks do not occur while stopping or driving, only as I press or release the peddle.

Any ideas on what that is and how to go about fixxing it?

Thanks

Do you use the parking brake?

If not, start.

Do you back up a lot? If not, brakes will lose adjustment.

Brake hard several times in reverse.

Not sure about Hondas, but many domestics, still stuck in the stone age of drum brakes, recommend this to adjust the rear drums.

If this doesn't work, go to a shop and get them checked for tension in the cables for the parking brake, as well as overall function.

I do use the parking brake all the time, but I dont drive in reverse very often. I'll try doing that and braking hard and see if that helps out.

Eventually I'd like to do a rear disc conversion off an ex, but I just cant stomach the $$ right now. LOL

Thx

You need to adjust your rear brakes and lube your backing plate where the shoes are contacting.

Yep, it works for Honda's.

That's what I would've suggested he do. But also brakes squeeking isn't always an indication that something is wrong. It's just something that is annoying to americans.
