Default D Series Head ?

i have a d15b8 block with a 91 crx head it only redlines at 5800. can i directly swap a d15b7 head cuz they rev out to 6800? or If i get a chip how high do u think i could change the rev limiter without blowing it up?

NO. The KEY to mixing and matching engine parts is the First letter. D or B (or A,K,J,R e.t.c) While B-series parts may move from engine to engine, they will never swap to a D-series. If for some strange reason the bolts did line up, the oil and cooling ports would definately not, and you would blow the top end. Unfortunatly i havent delt with the B15 engine, so i dont know what to tell you. If you could get the B16 head to work on it you would get some more pull out of it.

As far as your revs go, i have a B16 in my Del Sol and she revs to 9800

And how are you reving a B16 to 9800 RPM, what kind of computer you running, and valve train do you have?

B16A3 engine stock. The car's an SiR. mostly stock. Redline starts at 9,000. she comfortably hits 9,300 (ment 9300, not 9800 sorry
). I dont like to push her any harder though. I dont like stressing the engine too hard. I've never gotten close to top speed, but i can tell you, accelleration is out of this world.

ohhhhhh kay..
So you have a D16 already, that head should stick right on.
If you want your engine to be a bit more abuse tolerant, try a DOHC head.
I have a D16A1 DOHC sitting in my garage on a stand (out of a 88 Prelude, same generation as your CRX) If you are nearby you can have it for parts of you want it... :D
I'm in Ontario, Canada

it's a stock b16.. are you serious lol. just givin ya ****, they are decently quick.

btw, your engine will thank you in the long run if you stop revving it that high.

i know i know, she loves it though. The amazing thing about this engine is that it has 280,000km on it and don't burn a drop of oil. :D

All D series parts are interchangeable, you really don't need to rev a stock b15 past 6800. The rev limiter is in your computer, not your head. And a D16A1 is out of a 86-89 Acura Integra. And I was going to say you can't put that D16A1 Dual cam head on a single cam block.......but apparently someone on here has done it before, but it looks very ghetto-rigged, and looks like a total waste of time!

no **** the rev limiter is in the computer but if the valve springs in the head might not be good for 6800rpm and the cam is different from the d15b7 and the 91 crx d15 head

Well since you want to be a smart *** let me spell it out for you. The 91 CR-X head or D15B2 head, and the D15B7 head have the same redline at 6800 RPM. If you did your research you would know. Both engines, assuming they were complete engine are 9.2:1 compression ratio, both are 1493 cc engines, and both head are 16 valve. The only noticeable difference I see is that the B7 has a 38 tooth cam gear, where as the B2 or 91 CR-X head has a 37 tooth gear. So I believe the heads run the same cams, springs and retainers. And why would you chip a P06 to disable the rev limiter, that is stupid, the cams don't make any power after 6800 rpm, besides a D16Z6 V-tec engine redlines at 7200.

ok first of all, unless you are going to boost your D series.........you will just be throwing money down a hole.

2nd, if you want to stick with a D, you might as well use the best of the bunch(ZC, Z6, Y8) or if you want to go jdm theres the D15B...........

no im not answering your question........BECAUSE in my opinion the only reason to do any part swapping between D engines is if its broke and all you care about is cost.......and somebody out there has a cheap part.

Okay, to answer your question, you can change your rev limiter to 6800, that is what it should spin safely. Is that what you needed to know?

really? thats not what you asked? hmmmmm i had no idea......i guess the "no im not answering your question" part might have given it away.

the point was not to insult you.

its very hard to judge how much knowledge people on here have.......so i find that the best way to approach everyone(unless they obviously already have the basic knowledge) is to start with the basics.

to answer your question......i doubt honda has made an engine in the last 20 years that isnt quite safe up to 7000rpms.
