finally got another da looking to boost
just recently got bought me another da iam looking to boost the car . the car has 157,??? on the clock and is bone stock never modified there are no visual indicators such as fluid leaks, smoking, noises and or rigged up repairs that show that the car has been poorly maintained.besides an compression test what else would you guys recomend can be done or looked into to determine if the motor should be boosted or not with the mileage that its has . also within what specs should the compresion test read within 5 or 10 turns of the starter thanks in advance
boost it if you have money because you know your gonna be spending money either now or later down the road. something will happen and everyone knows that. compression and leak down tests should be done to see how your valves are. if the results are poor you know you can still boost it but you wont make as much power because the tuner will be afraid to push it for you.
The compression numbers don't really matter much as long as they aren't incredibly low and are within ~5% of each other. Beyond a compression and leakdown test (since you already visually inspected the car), there isn't much else to do.
From here on, i would suggest moving to the Forced Induction forum. The vehicle specific forums do not recieve as much traffic from those of us who are more versed in turbo setups. That's not to say you won't get help here, but you won't get help as fast...and sometimes you will get responses that are anything but helpful.
One more thing, read the FAQ while you're checking out FI
