I have a ek with a h22a swap but over 6000rpm it wont shift into second gear, it will go in below 6000 but only if you ease it in, anything after that no matter how much force you apply it will always grind. When downshifting from 3rd to second it wont go into 2nd at all unless you switch to first then second.

I'm thinking its probley the 1/2 sleeve and 2nd syncro but would a worn shifter bushing cause this problem or maybe even the shift linkage?

 

My buddy has a '94 Prelude that had a 2nd gear problem. He drove with it for a few years until it finally wouldn't shift anymore. The shift fork ended up being his problem. It was worn and wasn't pushing the stack into the right position for the shift to happen. His problem was similar to yours. It wouldn't downshift at all, and eventually started to be a problem upshifting. Pulling the trans on that car is such a nightmare. I don't envy you.

 

Anyone got any other suggestions??? I'm thinking about buying a used jdm h22a tranny for $700 canadian.
