Default What to do... 83 Civic 1500DX...

just bought a 83 civic 1500DX 5 Speed. 123K miles... all original!! last owner let friend drive it, and it came back shifting hard...gee what a suprise... so he pulled the motor and trans, took off the motor mounts and started gutting the car for a gsr... ran out time/money and sold to me...

What to do, what to do....

Let's see.. currently i have a h22 CRX and working on a 94 jdm h22 integra..

what to do with this one...

well the h22 crx was a b!*#$ to do and still doesn't run 100%... just ordered new suspension, clutch flywheel and injectors.... also need to retune..

the integra isn't my car so who knows when that'll b done..maybe next year..

so what do we do with the new 83 civic...

do we swap to a:
a) GSR or LS swap (I already have ls from the 94 teggy, blown rings needs rebuild)
b) H22/H23 frankenstein (should juuuust fit... i have a 92 h23 that was in fire and needs rebuild)
c) k20/k24 frankenstein (my boy said he'd give me the sleeved k24 block he's got, i'd had to get everything else)
d) something else...

open to ideas on this one.. what would you do?
my crx is a drag only car..
looking to make the civic a street sleeper...

Yes --- do a bolt-on D series or a stock D series turbo.

thanks, but i'll pass. Already have a B18 from LS 91 integra. Gonna use that with the 94 integra LS 5 Speed I have.

Haven't decided yet on where.. I've been dying to try putting the motor in the back and make a Mid engine RWD honda..

Already have most of it figured out.. still tryin to figure out how the shifter would work.. might have to switch to a B20 tranny cuz of the cable vs bar shifter..

After building a H22 CRX from the ground up (with no lift).. this doesn't seem to be any harder, alot of fab work just like the crx was... a couple of my buddies to lift the car up and slide the motor under it.. just like we did the crx..

the idea is to use left over parts from 2 other cars and left over material from building the crx..
parts - 94 integra ls and mostly a 91 integra ls, which we are going to pull motor, ecu, harness, cluster, and seats from.. maybe the entire front clip to be on the safe side..

BTW.. what is everyone and the K swaps??..
just cuz its newer does not mean its better!!

92 USM Prelude H22A1 - 200HP@6800RPM
09 Civic Sedan Si K20Z3 - 220HP @7800RPM

NO F*CKING SH*T THE K HAVE 20 MORE HP, IT REVS 10K HIGHER!
Put a set of cams in the h22, port polish the head and you have 220HP at 8000RPM or JDM version - same sh*t

Pound for pound:
I ran my 91 accord with a H22A1 in 2006 with a best time of 15.5 with stock junkyard H22A1.
In 2009, I ran my 09 Civic Si Sedan K20Z3 with a best time of 15.8, factory stock 600 Miles on car.
In 2008, after putting H22A1 in CRX, without VTEC working I still ran 15.5... next run, third gear disappeared but thats another story.. Last year I got tranny fixed, this year I'm gonna finish it, should be running low 12-13's, we'll see...

I raced my 09 civic k20 vs a h22 91 accord and i couldn't beat him but he wuzn't beating me.. He just kept looking at me smiling...until I hit 6th Gear and he ran out of gears..

I still believe in my long forgotten H22 Motor over the K anyday..

I got the same car but white, its mint cond. 82000 miles and I also have an h23 just sittin here. Would it really fit in the car that easy? What all would i need to have? cause I read on a b16 swap you have to get a suburu wrx brake booster. and also what about the harness. I used to work for honda in the past for a couple years and I have really only done 2 swaps.?

Id do a single cam D series boosted. Thats plenty for that little car. An H22 would make it way to front heavy.
