wich engine is better for this car? h22 or h23
my customer has a 96 civic ex and wants to do a h22 or h23. which motor do you all think would work better in his car? he really could car less about vtec but wants to see wich would be better for future performance work? i know people do the h22 swap but has anyone done a h23 yet.

Re: wich engine is better for this car? h22 or h23 (babyboib16)
the motors are going to be equally difficult to install( except vtec wiring for the h22). the motors have about the same amount of torque but the h22 has about 30 more hp than the h23 (40 more for the jdm motor). the only way i would consider putting a h23 in a civic is if it was free.

b18b swap is nice. non vtec integra engine swap. dohc 1.8L, and can be upgraded to vtec with headswap, or easily turbo'ed (like i'm doing on mine, civic hatchback though)..
Oh..doing h22 swap is going to require some modifications and specific parts from an assortment of hondas, check around, you will see what i'm talking about. most places will sell a complete swap with the correct assortment of pieces to fit your specific application (96 civic). .
price on b18b swap is pretty good, and it's pretty much direct bolt on..
have fun
