Default ENDYN timing belt tensioner

Don't know how long it has been available, and if anybody has one, but I picked up one and though I would take some pictures and video's of before and afters to show you guys what the difference is. Enjoy

Im running the Skunk2 Stage 3 tuner cams, here is a link to my build thread, https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/my-81-5mm-build-2661474/, anyways, ENDYN's claim is this tensioner helps eliminate belt slap associated with high lift cams. Here is the link to the piece on ENDYN's website.http://theoldone.com/components/cam_..._tensioner.htm.

Did you recheck your cam timing after putting it on? Looks like a little to much tension.

Im not sure I understand what you mean? Its just on for now, im going to play with it a little later cause it swings to allow for more or less pressure.

In your first video it seemed like the belt wasn't tensioned properly.

the belt is taught enough I feel, I had recently replaced the OEM LMA's with the ENDYN spring type ones and when everything was put back together a friend of mine that works for Toyota and does plenty of work on Honda engines checked everything out and got me all squared away so I feel that your statement is incorrect.

The way the tensioner is positioned changes the distance (the length of belt) between the crank gear and the cam gears (the shortest distance between two points is a straight line...). Just like when you mill a cylinder head. You should have degreed the cams after positioning the tensioner like that. My suggestion would be to adjust the tensioner so that it barely touches the timing belt when the engine is off. This will keep the belt from jumping time, but change the cam timing as little as possible (if at all).

i think the Endyn tensioner is much better than the Vibrant one. the pulley on Endyn's is closer to the cams (where you want to control belt slap). you can also keep both A/C and power steering (with longer bolts and belt you can sandwich the tensioner between the block and the pump). you can also run the belt cover with minor trimming on the side for the wheel. (it takes a LOT of trimming to run the cover with the Vibrant)

i believe endyn's is also a tad cheaper and im sure better quality.

now this is another part i have to invest in...especially seeing as my tensioner inexplicably let loose on the dyno last year and miraculously didnt do any damage to my motor. not trying to give that a second chance.

It is made of aluminum and from looking at the piece, it looks quality, be aware though that you do not receive bolts to bolt it to your head, I was expecting those and didnt receive any so I went to Auto Zone and found the ones I needed.

Any 14mm bolt will work for this application. Just make sure its long enough

I am running a vibrant tensioner on the front of my gsr and havent had any problems what so ever. I am looking at switching to a cam trigger ignition style which the endyn tensioner wouldnt allow me to use. But either way, I believe they are both great products.

It looks good. I wonder what the life of the bearing is and what would happend if it fell apart or seized.

If someone could put up a video or post of running power steering with tensioner that would be great ! I want to put on the tensioner as I'm pro2's in my car.

Not sure if you can run one with power steering. I think it bolts where the pump mounts.

Is there still timing belt slap if the factory tensioner is pulled to apply more tension on the tbelt than just the spring alone?

I like this idea but I want to retain PS. Im working on a custom bracket to work double duty holding the PS pump and the pulley. Has anyone else done that before?

Realistically speaking u don't need this I just sold my vibrant tensioner because my tuner showed me how to tighten it or install my belt correctly. And I have lobey cams on my b20vtec

My head has a slight skim, I've tensioned the belt as per Honda's instructions but I can turn the belt almost 90 degrees at the longest point, you think I'll be ok?

Lots of top tuners and racers recommend these and its not because they don't know how to install a belt.

I run the Endyn one on my B20 VTEC, it's a bad *** piece.

Tightening your belt properly doesn't eliminate slap from big cams.
