Yes, you'll need to chip the ECU with the proper stock program to make the B16 run as it should from the factory. You can also have a more aggressive tune put on that will yield you some mild gains on a fairly stock setup.

These guys can easily take care of your needs.

You an send out your ECU or order a new one that's chipped. Same results.

Tell them your setup, they'll put the appropriate program on.

You won't have issues with gas mileage with one of our programs :-)
It's simple:
1. Go to http://www.phearable.net/shoppingcar...vtec-p-31.html
2. Complete the details at the bottom of the page.
3. Complete the order.
4. Receive the ecu, check your wiring to make sure everything is proper.
5. Enjoy.

thanks for reply. your in fl or pa?
the guys at shop, said they can have my ecu chipped, but im not sure who or where they send ecu. they told me theyd get me a chipped ecu so i can hold onto mine in car. not have down time.
im new here so i dont know the facts and statistics to what chips do, or what they improve.
when i first purchased car, i was told to get a p30.
but p28 is fine. just not reading motor.
then i had a guy selling his ecu for 150...told me it was one of the best, that it took away rev limit, something with when the vtech hits, and check engine light as shift light??
was told, think spoon?(not sure) but that their chip will make me eat gas like v8.
had a v8 sold for civic.

would like the possitive from chip.
shop told me 150 for the chip

u can get a chipped ecu from pherable.net and they are good for like 150

u tell them what u want the vtec to hit at and end at, and leave the rev limiter but make it like 9000,could add a 2step launch (but ur gonna dd so it dont matter if u 2 step or not)

just tell them the kind of car and wut motor they will make it stock basemap on the ecu and then u tell them the extras

u can also disable damn near every sensor on the car if u felt like it.

guess ill try that route. maybe ill ask dude at shop where hes getting chipped ecu from and what it will come with.
not really sure what i want the vtec to hit at or end at....dont know enuff about that yet
thought i/or chip is supposed to remove rev limiter. again, no knowledge
as for 2step launch, guess you know by now.....that i dont know what this does....

i know that i need to learn alot more. it will help me and help me not sound so dumb when it comes to things.

but i also know that the car needs chip to read motor right.

What is the dude at the shop telling you? Is it a reputable shop in your area that can tune your car as well as chip the ECU? If it is I would be asking them these questions.

Some places have package deals. Ones that would include the chipping fee and a series of dyno runs to tune the ECU. Not sure what the hourly rates or package deals would be for dyno time in your area. Ask the buddy at your local shop.

Basemaps that come with chipped ECU's are usually just that. A base at which to start your tune. Most of these base map tunes are on the conservative side so that you won't do damage to your engine.

The overall reason to get your car dyno tuned is so that you can get every possible gain out of your engine setup.

If you are going to modify the car much in the future, you should consider getting a programmable ECU instead of just a chip. Neptune RTP or similar.

thanks for the info man. appreciate the bit of knowledge.
the shop i go to does not have dyno. and do not tune cars.
guess ill have to look around for something in my area for tune.

yes i would like to do upgrades for more power down the road. but its not gonna be big dollar stuff and not anytime soon. i just bought the car, with bad trans, so i had to fix trans and clutch. took out gsr and put in jdm gsr with lsd. and a cc stage 2 clutch.
not sure what kinda power i have in car. and dont know how much more i can put in. guess with time ill find out.

right now, i think i mainly need the chip to get computer reading motor. so thats why im looking to get it chipped.

If that's the case and you have no one local to tune or chip. I would say that your best bet is to send your ECU out to have it chipped as mentioned above.

Where are you located?
