Default Parking Brake Lights/

I am trying to hook up my starter/alarm

i can't seem to find the parking LIGHTS wire...

i am not sure what the alarm wants.... does it want 12 V when the parking brake is ON?? or when it's off??

coz i think honda, when the parking light is ON, it won't have 12 V, when it's OFF, there is 12 V

what usually does other alarm do??

Please help

thanks

you can get the brake wire at the brake switch (just above the pedal), and there is a plug-in terminal on the fuse blosk you can use for the parking lights. it is just to the right of center (i think it is the third from the right). but you use a speaker connector to slide it right on. they both test as voltage.

what you want to do is go to the hand brake ( park brake)....on its base is a switch...that will throw a ground when the brake is set...that is the wire to use.

Hope this helps.

PS on many systems its a ground..that it looks for on that wire.

nonono hehehehe

The starter NEEDS the 12 V power from the parking light
so when the parking light is ON, the car can be started

u know what i am saying??

but now, the problem is....

I don't know what the starter wants

Does it want the 12 V when the parking brake is ON?? or when it's OFF??

I want to see how other starter works...then maybe mine works the same as others

One again, it's NOT the brake light i want

You didnt list your car, so I will assume its a HONDA. On most Hondas the parking LIGHT circuit is Red with Black stripe. It will show ground at rest and 12V when turned on. While testing, spin the dimmer switch to make sure the voltage does NOT vary, if it does, you have mistakenly found the DIMMER circuit, not true Parking Lights.

As for PARKING BRAKE......most Hondas show GROUND when the Parking Brake is activated. It will show 12V at rest. Most will only show 12V at rest when the key is in the ON position. I usually test for the wire with the key in the ON position. To keep the install clean and tidy, I usually find the wires underneath the dash, but if you cant seem to find it, you could always go straight to the E-brake handle.

GOOD LUCK!!
