Default sputter at constant rpms obd1 b16

I have a 91 civic hatch with obd1 b16 in it. I've had the car for years and the engine in another civic before that.

My car was running fine and I let it sit for a week or maybe more. When I started it up it sputters at an idle. When your revving it up it clears up and runs perfect, but when you hold it at a constant rpm it sputters bad. Driving down the street if your just cruising it sputters and lurches, but when you step on the throttle it accelerates nice and strong. The idle is bouncing also, it was doing that off and on before though. Theres no engine codes. I changed out the cap rotor plugs and wires but had no luck. I am a little bit frustrated, I was hoping someone would have some advice for me.

My B16 did something similar, pull off the injectors real quick and check that the little plastic filter that fits into each injector is good. One of mine was jammed up into the fuel rail...I don't know how that solved the problem, but it did.

I pulled the rail and injectors, everything appears to be clean and in good working order, the filters look clean and are where they are supposed to be. restarted the car and still have the same problem, thanks for the advice though I appreciate it.. Any other ideas on what this could be?

Is it a constant thing or only after about 15 mins after warmup? I changed out my plugs, dizzy, plug wires, and injectors. I needed new injectors anyway since when I pulled them I found out the guy before me had 3 low impedance injectors and 1 high impedance one. ****** dumbass. Also the completely wrong dizzy for my car. Ended up taking the plug wires back, that wasn't it.

Just start working your way through the list going from cheapest to most expensive. Check and see if you have an injector resistor box still in your car, from what I understand, obd1 shouldn't have them. I don't know if that will fukk it up, but it might help isolate the problem.

I thought my problem HAD to be ignition, turns out it was fuel related. Maybe replace the fuel filter, see if thats it? Search the interwebz for "b16 misfiring", there's bound to be someone else who's had the same problem. As far as I know though, my injector screen problem was the only one of its kind, everyone else fixed their problem in some other way. I'm just lucky I guess, lol. Good luck though man, I feel the frustration.

its constant. I got the engine from a jdm exchange place prolly 5 or 6 years ago, had it in a car I wrecked and put it in this car a couple years ago. As far as I know I needed to use the resistor box? its for the injectors I'm using right? Either way I know it has worked for years.

I'm wondering if I could have blown a head gasket.. I'll do a compression test on it soon. Also wondering if its the dizzy... I still have other things to check like all the vac lines before I start throwing parts at it..

this engine was running almost perfect for years and years besides a few little problems.. main relay went out once, rotor set screw fell out once, regular tuneups and so on.. Its always had a little bit of an intermittent bouncing idle, I cleaned iacv and all sorts of other sensors that I can't remember now, its been a long time since I had worked on it...

Car is obd0 harness with a 0bd1 conversion jumper, the car I had it in before was a obd0 and the dizzy went out, I traded everything to a friend for the obd1 conversion chrome ecu thats running rich but hasn't given me any problems..

I searched honda tech a few times over now and found a few people with the same problem or similar ones but never any confirmation of if they fixed their car...

I had the same thing happening to me, it ended up that the ignition timing was off. I'd check that.

definately distibuter...could be the igniter or a number of things but the distributer should fix it
if anything just buy a new one and put it on and if it doesnt fix the problem just take it back and tell them it was the wrong one and get yo money back lol or you could get a used one but when it comes to distributers i usually just get a new or re-man
