I found someone sselling a k24a1, came out of a 2003 CRV and here are some specs I found..

Displacement: 2,354 cc (143.6 cu in)
Bore and Stroke: 87 mm x 99 mm (3.43x3.90 inches)
Compression: 9.6:1
Power: 160 hp (120 kW) @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 162 ft·lbf (220 N·m) @ 5200 rpm
Redline: 6500 rpm

So my question is.. has anyone done or know of one of these being put in a rex? Is it a good motor "Reliable wise" and good step from my big bad d15b2? (lol) and I know this is asked a lot but this is what the guy said..

"Both motors are out of 2003 honda crv. I got them from honda thinking I'd build and use them, but I have no time for that now. One motor is complete with wiring, intake and exhaust, but it has a spun rod bearing. The other is just the block with a good rotating assembly, which has a crack at the oil pressure sending unit from being over tightened. So put them together and you have a good motor or use them for a hybrid build up"

So what do ya'll think? and if it sound sok then what is the rest of the stuff I would need. Thanks HT

 

Run a search on a K swap, it has been done. That particular K engine is a dog though, don't bother with it. 160HP? You can get that from a B series. 220NM is respectable but still worth the cost of the swap.

 

well he wants hardly anything for it all and I would most likely find an k20a2 tranny and head on it.. how do you think that would do then?

 

build the bottom end to rev higher, then it'll be awesome. just think of this motor as the LS of the K series. Its torquey but it doesn't rev that high.

It should be fun as long as you keep in mind the fact that your redline wont change with just the k20 head, the bottom end isnt built for the rpms that the k20 head is (unless you build the bottom end).

but it sounds like those motors are already beat down, there might be more to it than a spun bearing, but if the price is right.

btw my element has this motor and its extremely boring and uninspiring with the automatic tranny and the weight of the element, but in a civic or crx it should be much better just dont get the automatic tranny !

 

Well through my research, and I am by no means an expert but you would need

-motor
-trans
-modified wiring harness (from rywire or others)
-mounts
-axles
-kpro or reflash
-fuel rail
-fuel lines
-header
-probably some sort of pulley mods deleted or relocated
-you would have to cut your hood or raise it a lot
-there is probably a bunch i am forgetting

 

I still think that a B series would be a more viable option if you're looking to swap engines.

But hey, if you've got the money and time then go for gold.

 

I wouldn't call it a "dog". There is a guy on K20A.org that is making over 180whp with this engine with only a header and an intake manifold. I would say that it has plenty of potential.

160hp is nothing to laugh at, but when all the other K engines are making 80hp or so more than it, i would consider it the dog of the K engines.

 

considering how much also to put it in compaired to a b series i would put a b series i have the same k series items like was mentioned for sale and i can hardly sell them parts to do these builds are dough

 

With a K24 you will need a custom hood because it is taller than a K20.
