i just picked up a 96 integra ls (special edition)
the guy i bought it from said he was driving on the
freeway and the just quit on him, so he had it towed
to his house and then it sat there for two months.
car has spark and fuel but it just doesnt want to start.
it turns over but nothing... i popped off the valve cover
and the timing belt is loose but not crazy loose, if it
would have jumped a tooth would it just quit or would
it run rough? im going to jack up the car and manually
turn the motor over to see the all the timing marks
line up.... i cant think of anything else..... any ideas anyone?

 

make sure the belt tension is within spec

 

u need 3 things to start car; spark, fuel, and compression

 

and air dont forget air lol

 

You have to check the timing is right and you could check to see if the rotor is still screwed on to the dizzy or if it has come loose?

 

what is the specs for the belt tensioner? its been awhile since ive worked on a honda, so if i loosen the tensioner it will tighten against the belt?

 

i would check the timing to make sure it all lined up first. then i would check compression.
