wont do anything with the key in the switch
so i have an 89 civic four door. it has an ls swap. it was running really good until i parked it for a couple of weeks. it snowed about 4 ft here and i finally unburied it. hooked it up to my other car to jump it. got it running and it ran ok. i tried to move it once i got all the snow out from around it and it stallled. i tried to jump it again and it would crank and pop, but would not start. after trying it a couple of times i gave up hope for the night and decided to get some sleep. i let it sit for a couple of days and bought another battery. i installed new battery and things got worse. i put the key in the ignition switch and nothing. i turn the parking lights on and it kills the interior light that is already on. as soon as i turn the switch back it takes about three seconds and the interior light comes back on. i think it might be the ignition switch anybody else have any ideas for when i get home tonight.
Dumb to say but...make sure you've got all the snow/ice that may have built up under it out. Are the battery terminals clean and tight? Recheck/clean your battery ground connections. Make sure gremlins haven't eaten your alternator wiring, or gotten into the main distribution panel. Get out the voltmeter, disconnect your battery, and look for shorts. That ought to get you started. Good luck!
