Default is it worth fixing it?

i slipped on black ice and hit a parked car, i had everything on my coverage but collision which im still hitting my head over and im taking a big loss to this car. Its a 2002 and has about 58k miles, the title is clean so im trying to think right now getting parts little by little qnd having it good by summer since nothing serious happened to the frame, suspension or motor. I was also thinking selling it for a reasonable price n just save for another can i get opinions i am stressed out since either way i look at it i am taking a loss.

OMG!! sad to see a loss like that, thats a coin toss on whether to try and fix, part it out, or sell it.

wow sorry to hear man. I would part it out and make as much as you can back on it and buy another one. Or buy one that is wrecked in the back or the side, this way you have all the parts for the car already

did it just damage the front clip? if so then depending on your experience with welding and fabricating i would just replace the front support, hood, bumper, fender, and light. i would guess youre in the the 6-8k range if you would have had collision insurance. look at it this way, if the car has had a clean title and you would repair it over time and get it back to oem spec then you will keep a clean title. i hate having insurance because you may save money now but later you will pay for it when you sell it. a nice car like this with a repaired insurance claim can be a huge hit even if its done by the best out there. your call and good luck!

Damn bro!! It's me (jdmstyled_dc2) with the black s2k over at b20. Didnt you just paint this car? So Sorry to hear man.. collision is important! It's borderline right now. I can't tell. Remove the bumper and fenders and have a good look at it. Then you'll know whats repairable and if you can do it.

Hold crap. How fast were you going? I t-boned an Accord that turned in front of me, failing to yield right of way, at about 62 mph and my damage didn't look as bad as yours. Car was totaled and I got $27K for it ('07 with 3K miles).

I think here a vehicle is declared a total loss when the repair is over half the vehicle's value. Must've been some major frame damage because the motor was just fine.

Did the airbags deploy? If so, it's totaled.

^--- legit guy here.

I would personally remove bumper, fenders, and hood to really assess the damage before taking the next step. If it's just sheet metal damage, you can get away with the repairs yourself because all you have to do is align the exterior pieces. A friend of mine was in an accident similar to yours but in his EJ1 and he simply welded a donor piece to hold it over and it's been fine since. There are crucial parts, then there are the non-crucial parts that it's OK to "half-***". just my 2 cents.

Good luck man. I hope everything comes out in the end and you'll be driving her soon. I'm happy you can fix her.

Sorry to hear that you didn't have the coverage to get this repaired (it most definitely would have been totaled if you went through insurance).

Instead of dealing with the headache of getting this back as a street car, have you considered buying a cheap daily driver and turning this into a track car?
