Default Possibly buying a salvaged tsx

I'm going to go look at a 2008 TSX with 80k miles on it for about 8700$ but the only thing about it is that it's salvaged due to vandalism. I tried to get some wisdom on it, but I couldn't find the answers I needed so I decided to come here ask Honda-Tech!

He said it was vandalized due to damage in wheels, car being keyed, tire damage, and holes on the exterior and has been fixed.

I understand the some of the implications of a salvaged title and I do plan on riding the car til it dies.

Pretty much what i'm asking is... is it worth it and what should I be looking for when checking out the car?

It's my first time buying a car

Do you have anyone to go look at the car with you? Although recommended, It doesn't have to be a mechanic, but more like a second opinion. Ask for receipts of work done. When your driving, focus on all the big and little sounds and see if they're is anything that doesn't sound right. Even if it sounds like you'll be putting money into it, it's still alot cheaper than one with a clean title. as long as the frame isn't bent or rusted to hell, you can fix it and have it for a long time. That's in my opinion. If you like it and feel like you can live with it. But don't just take my word for it, maybe if you have a friend that owns the same car, you could ride or even drive and then have something to reference. Good luck.

There are a couple of questions you need to ask yourself:

- Do you really know if it's salvage because of theft instead of damage?

- Are you willing to drive a car you can't use as a trade-in?

And you need to read this: http://www.civicforums.com/forums/18...e-vehicle.html

I have two salvage Acura TSX,s. both were involved in a flood. And both are great cars so far. I'm 60 and do all my own work so I'm not risk averse. Frankly, if this is your first car, I,d find a friend or family member you can trust and have them go over everything. Pay special attn to all the electric modules as These can get expensive if you pay for troubleshooting or repair. Good luck with whatever you do.

It's fine as long as your okay with a car that will be harder to sell once your done with. Also the fact it's not worth nearly as much as a clean title car.

Just be careful and inspect them before you pull the trigger
