Drivers door won't luck, but passenger will?
Whats up guys,
I stealth installed my Viper 5002 alarm a month and half ago or so. Everything is working great with the alarm except my drivers door won't lock. I think it is the key cylinder but wanted to make sure that will cause it before I order it, its only 20 bucks. When I lock/arm the alarm the passenger door will lock but the drivers won't, although it tries. I also cannot lock the drivers door with my key because the key cylinder is fudged up looking(from a past attempted break-in). I assume the cylinder is binding up and not letting the alarm lock the door.
If my theory is correct I will order the key cylinder ASAP.

Will the power door lock switch or the manual switch lock the drivers door?
If so, will it unlock with the alarm?
The key switch should not effect the power door lock, no matter how badly it is messed up unless it is binding in the unlock position maybe.
Sounds more like the actuator itself. 94

I actually have the rod for the manual switch unhooked. The plastic piece on the bottom of the manual switch that the rod goes through had broken. I haven't replaced it. I could however pull the door panel off and move the rod myself by hand.
EDIT: I also have Jimmy Jammers installed on both doors, I am sure it doesn't matter, just stating.

Yea, pull the panel and check, you need to find out if the problem is binding or if it is the actuator, at this point it sounds like the actuator but can't be sure untill we see if it's not just binding. 94
fcm, I just got a chance to pull the drivers door panel off, I tried using my hand to move the manual switch rod to lock the doors and it worked fine. Locked it with the manual rod several times to make sure it was consistent in working and it locked the door every time. So, looks like its the actuator then correct?
Is there anyway to check the actuator? Is the actuator the electrical box thingy ma jig that's in the door that's held in by a bracket? If so, I guess the part of the actuator that locks/unlocks the passenger door is ok but the drivers side part is fudged up?
I will look it up on HondaPartsUnlimited and Majestic to see what they run.

It's just because it's a 17 year old car, stuff wears out, things in drivers door will go long before other doors because it is used much more often. 94
Gotcha, thanks a lot for the help man. Very much appreciated. I will get it on order so I can get it ASAP, going somewhere and the drivers door not being locked is spooking me, even though the alarm will still trip if the door is opened I just don't like it.
You could install an aftermarket actuator... http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories but you would loose central locking, or go with a used one... http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=OEM...acat=0&bkBtn=1 94
You do know the crook will then just bust the window, or you will have to the day your keyless or remote stops working.
Locking your doors is not going to keep a crook out of the car, unless of coarse the crook is worried about doing damage to your car, and we know there are very few of them.
Shaved key holes are only a problem for the owner of the car.
If you do shave them, install a mechanical release, [cable] just in case.94

Very good point also, I actually thought about that later after I posted my last reply. He will just bust the window..at least my audio sensor is there to start the alarm blaring early on.
Heres an idea. Just replace the two handles in the front doors but leave your trunk key hole there. So if you have problems you can just go through the trunk to get inside.
As for the locking problem why don't you get the after market lock for like 10 bucks on ebay and install them. I had to replace all four doors lock because they all went out. Cheap fix it's better and easier then buying the factory one.
