You did not say if it is the coax or the component Alpine 6.5"...

The stock speaker is a "standard" 6.5", needing a 5" diameter mounting hole and a 2" mounting depth.

As you can see all the above need more then 2" of mounting depth, no biggie, a spacer or cutting a hole for the magnet in the back of the stock speaker housing will allow for the extra depth, the type S mounting hole diameter isjust less then 5" so they will fit, the type R however are "oversized" and require a larger then 5" diameter mounting hole.

For the best possible SQ from any speaker installed the stock plastic speaker housing should be replaced with custom MDF housings, not hard to build and well worth it. 94

I would go listen to them first before you buy them. I am not a fan of their sound.
Best buy will most likely hack them in there. It's easy to do yourself if you have the right tools.

As mentioned,it is not that hard to do yourself, very basic wood working skills and tools are all that is needed.

The easy way to install an oversized 6.5" is to make a spacer with the proper diameter mounting hole and attatching it to the plastic housing and then mounting speaker to it, the best way is to replace the stock housing completely.

The SQ of the speaker is very dependent on it's install and can make a much bigger diff. then the speaker itself. 94

When I originially bought my car I has type s coaxials and even unamplified, the sound was pretty good. never heard the type r's so I cant really compare it, but I dont think you will be let down by the S's. Like stated, you will need a spacer, which you can make out of mdf for a few bucks. Might be worth finishing it off with a few sq ft of sound dampening around the speakers as well
