E-brake no longer works...at all
I've done a rear disc swap on my 90 CRX back about 3 years ago and never had a problem until just recently. The E-brake started not holding so i tightened the cable down to 100% and still have the problem. When i say it doesnt work, I dont mean it just doesnt hold tight on a hill, I mean the tire spins freely like a greased bearing.
I've taken the caliper off the rear, took it apart, and sprayed it down with WD-40. I made sure the piston wasnt stuck. I put it all back together and it still acts the same. The cable is actually taught and pulls the arm on the caliper it looks like to me.
Also since we have 18" of snow on the ground i took it outside and ran it down the road with the door open and my head sticking out to watch the rear tire. I hit the brakes lightly til they locked and the rear brakes did lock up so I know that the piston isnt stuck.
What is my problem?!

THANKS GoTrek I'll see if the cable itself is stuck ASAP and try lubing it.
lunalink , YES I tested the pedal and it does push out the piston inside the caliper on both sides. There is plenty of brake fluid reaching it.
4drEF & USNneverAGAIN07 you guys crack me up.......Use your noodles or don't post.
I was.
Brake fluid has nothing to do with this.
In fact, you could drain all your fluid, remove your brake lines, and throw out the master cylinder
... and the e-brake would still work!
ha!! Sounds like you need to use your noodle
Ahh that might be a possibility. That fits the symptoms and explains why both sides quit working at the same time.
