Icon6 problem with tacho and speedo (del sol)

Hello! I am a new user. I am from Latvia. This is the small country in Europe, cause my english language is with mistakes.

I have Honda Del Sol 92.year. D16z6 engine code. I have a problem with speedometer and tachometer. They often don't work both, or one of them. For example, when I turn on engine, they don't work, but after 5 minutes they work(or one of them). Other gauges work correctly. What the problem can be? Thanks

I have a similar issue, mine is with the tach. It often works, but sometimes it doesn't. I bought a VSS and never installed it, I guess I learned to live with it. Now since you mentioned your speedo has the same problem, then I would try checking speedo cable connection and the vss.

Good luck, let us know if you find a solution.

Check your ICM located in your dizzy. When your tach doesn't work, or jumps it usually means that your ICM goes bad. B/c it is connected to the tach and sends a signal to it.

Or could possibly be a wiring issue since the speedo isn't working also, I'm not 100% but hope this helps.

i would check the connectors on the back of the cluster ive seen them come loose before especially if u go down real bumpy roads or the cluster has been messed with before and where not fully snapped back in to the socket

I've seen many reasons for this problem. Here's a couple simple things you can check: 1st: battery connections and grounds. I've seen bad grounds cause weird things, even the the car will still start. 2nd: Check charging system, I've seen failing alternators throw off speedo/tach on the dash. You'll need a multimeter, should read DC volts, around 13.6V (min) - 14.4V (ideal) with car running at idle.

Good luck
