Ok just like most hondas out there...my car have this annoying *** high/low idle constant...many people say clean the throttle body and that should fix it...Did that and it worked!!!!!(For 4 damn days lol)

So im talking to a friend today and he said that the problem is really the idle valve and onced replaced I shouldnt have the problem for a very long time.

Can I get some opinions on this???

 

Usually you don't need to replace the IACV(Idle Air Control Valve), usually cleaning it does the trick.

Look on the back of your Intake Manifold plenum. You will see a valve with an electrical connector, 2 coolant lines going to it. It is held on with 2-12mm bolts. Take the coolant lines loose, unplug it, take out both bolts and clean the screen on the valve with a brush and brake/carb cleaner and re-install.

If your engine has a surging idle while cold but goes away when warm then most likely your FITV(Fast Idle Thermo Valve) is the culprit. It is located on the bottom of the Throttle Body. There's a link below on how to clean it, you do not need to take the Intake Manifold off to clean it, I usually just take the throttle body off and plop it down on my work bench and dis-assemble and clean it there.

As far as my idle goes funny enough its the opposite. When I start cold in the morning the car idles perfect and once the car gets heated or I decide im going to fly through traffic...the annoying idle comes right back

Any other reason for this or its still as you stated above???

 

you should set the base idle, run engine till its warm, let engine idle
1. unplug iacv
2. take off intake
3. on throttle body there should be 2 holes on the side of the tb, cover it up with some tape, and the adjust the idle speed screw on the tb until you reach 450-550rpm
4. take off tape and clear the cel,
5. run engine see if its fixed

 

So im doing all this while the engine is on??? :S

 

If the idle is surging when warm I would clean the IACV. Setting base idle won't hurt but I have never had that fix a surging idle that was caused by the FITV or IACV.

 

ive fixed both my cars setting base idle. after cleaning and replacing the iacv and fitv didnt fix anything. also the base idle can help you find vacuum leaks which can cause idle surge. and yes with engine running to op.
