Default Ball joint seperation

From what i read everybody has had trouble with these damn things. I searched this forum and all the other ones looking for something and nothing worked. I went and rented several tools at autozone and none of them worked. Then i saw this on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISY8bGof3bQ And i thought i should share it because it works! I thought i was gonna have to haul my car to the garage.

that doesnt always work... the autozone ball joint separator tool works as well as banging the side of the arm that holds the ball joints.. what it does when you bang it with a hammer is that it loosens up all that rust and build up that may be keeping it stuck.. also a little use of Kroil will instantly loosen it up..

I used the latter method mentioned above. Randomly hitting the arm, and after 10 good hits, it popped right off.

you gotta be careful with the forks, they will mess up the threads on the joint ... thats the last thing you want

After several hours dicking around with a ball joint remover I gave up and searched. I found this video too. I used the video method during my swap. It worked like a charm. You just need the right sized wrench.

I agree wit the ball joint separator. the autozone/advanced/oriley ball joint separators tend to split the forks after so long and you need to press the forks back together.

i do not agree with the pulley puller. it will damage th metal threads on the ball joint, then you HAVE to replace the ball joints.

there are also pneumatic ball joint separators.
