Default H22 build, ITB's?

ok, so I've got a H22 the blocks been sleeved, 11.5:1 Mahle pistons, Eagle rods. a set of Kelford h176-C cams on the way, the head is being ported and polished, the question I have is I already have a Euro-R manifold with a 68mm throttle body, but I've been debating on getting the OBX ITB's for a H22. I was wondering if anyone might have any experience with these on a H22 and just some input on it. thanks

Personal opinion I would stay away from OBX. I have heard several horror stories of their products breaking very soon after purchase. Classic case of you get what you pay for. What size are they? Honestly, you likely won't gain that much over a good ported Euro-R setup.

wow 57mm would be huge. Not very good for a street car IMO, something that big would only work well for top end power, so unless your drag racing only, then for your engine i would stick to 46 to 50 mm

the obx's are 52mm, from what I've read about them on here, some people have actually made some decent numbers with them. but that's really what I was wondering if there would really be that much difference between the euro-r and the Itb's. haven't really seen where the itb's have broken on anyone, they're about $600 as opposed to 2 or 3 times that for other brands. I've never put anything obx on my car though, I always thought it was cheap bullshit. and I've learned my lesson about the you get what you pay for thing a couple of times, so I don't know.

well decent numbers on a b-series, I can't find where anyone has used them on a h22 yet

Look through the RBC manifold/h22 thread. There was a guy with a del sol that used the ITB's. He said it made more power than the rbc on his car.

The itbs made 252/176 compared to the rbc which made 246/172. It wasnt just peak numbers but 4-6 throughout the whole power band. Never got a chance to scan the dyno sheet so thats why I didnt post it up. This is on a stock bore and stroke H22, just high sompression pistons, Blox cams, slightly ported head and the itbs.

this is from fastsol but i would just save up for the kinsler itbs, but thats just my two cents bro

So you got the block sleeved but are still using the mahle pistons ? I hope they arent the gold series . . .

Euro R is a great manifold . . I personally love ITBs . . . Although if the option you were looking into was OBX ITBs , then I would just stay Manifold. . .
I just dont trust the OBXs on a street car in the long run- open to the elements . .

buddy of mine is porting the head, have no idea how much it flows, isn't finished yet. oh and yeah they're the mahle gold pistons it's doing fine though. I already had the pistons, then found out there was a pinhole in one of the sleeves so I had it sleeved to the piston size. already put about 15k on the motor before I spun out and tore up the chassis. so whatever you think about running mahle golds in a sleeved block is wrong, it's perfect no scarred cylinder walls or anything, I got proof. just took the head off to have it ported while the motor was out.

anyways, yeah I think I'm gonna just hold off on itb's I don't really wanna take a $600 chance on the obx ones, I mean that's a pretty good chunk of change on something that could just be a hunk of junk. was just a thought, I'm trying to get around 250 to the wheels on NA and I was trying to think of some more **** to add, I thin, that's gonna be about the last thing I can do. I had like 203 with stock head and stock cams, so I'm hoping the cams and the port work will get it a little closer.
