Default what to do with free 15" ?

I already posted this in the Audio section; I just want to try and get a good answer by 1:00 pm tomarrow Cali time, and I know you guys are the best. I'm new to the whole audio thing . My friend just gave me his 15" Realistic sub from radio shack because he said it was . I'm not planning on adding a major system in my car untill i finish my engine mods, so I don't want to spend more than $150. I'm planning on running a Fosgate C1/2 channel Amp for $29 (send it to the sub), Infinity 6.5 2-ways with 160 wats peak power for $24, and Pioneer 6X9 320 wat pair for $23. Is it worth the money, and how much of a noticable improvement will it have over my '95 Accord Lx stock speakers with after market head unit?

For the money it will bw better than stock....Just don't expect it to soud great. That sub will move air resembling bass-like sounds but it won't rattle your nizzutz.
I guess you gotta start somewhere though.

I'm getting the prices from the Sierra Madre / Arcadia pennySaver. I figured it had to atleast sound better than the stock speakers, and that if the sub sucks, at least it wont rattle. By the way, the Fosgate is 800wat, I don't think I said that before.

Throw the sub away. It will do more harm than good. The 6.5 2-way is great, and the 6x9 is okay too. Just get good amps to power them and it should sound great...a lot better than your stock set up. If you want quality sound, go for smaller but more subs...like (2 - 10 inch subs). But if it is just loudness that you want...keep the 15s.

I would but its a gift and I don't wanna be mean. Why would it do more good than harm? and how do I find out the specs for the sub? Its a Realistic 40-1301 from radioshack. I tryed radio shack, but their site is down and crunchfield isn't any help either.

The prices are so good because u have to install the parts at the place, and installation is a bitch. not matter what I do i'm goin to have to come $200 out the pocket for a free sub. I'm probally just gonna wait and do the system right like greensleeper said. And whats so bad about 15's?

I mean in terms of sound quality, it will domore harm than good. In general 15" subs are not as good because the cone itself is heavier, therefore the response is slower. And, the cone area is bigger therefore, the rigidity is compromised. Since you are getting Radioshack ones, I assume that the quality is not there.

It can be loud as hell...but the quality . As I said, it depends on what you are looking to achieve.

A good box and a good amp would improve it. But, not that much. It is like modifying a non-vtec engine, it would be better if you just bought a new engine.
