Automatic Tranny stuck in 4th
Hi all. This past Saturday I had the tranny fluid in my '07 Civic coupe EX automatic changed. The car is just short of 50K miles. For 2 days it was fine, but now the tranny light is on and the car will only shift into fourth gear. The D light was blinking, but no more. This is the same shop that has done my oil changes for years. I'm pretty sure they did not use Honda ATF, but would another fluid prevent the car from shifting into top gear? Should I go back to the shop and see if they have Honda atf, or just go straight to Honda? I only ask because I'll be out the $125 for the fluid change, and then whatever Honda wants to charge. Could the fluid stay in there until this weekend, or is it going to harm the car? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
i've always been told to ONLY use honda ATF...i would go get 12 quarts and do a total flush. for example, my wife's accord uses 3 quarts...
change fluid, drive it throught all the gears a few times, drain and change in 3 more quarts,
drive it throught all the gears a few times, drain and change in 3 more quarts
then on the the last 3 quarts, leave it in.
each time the fluid gets cleaner and clearer to see.
it may be too late, but definatly worth buying the fluid and trying to save the tranny.
