HOW TO CLEAN EGR PORTS????
MY 01' ACCORD STUTTERS SOMETIMES. I CHANGED THE PLUGS AND WIRES, BUT IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING. MY MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT I CLEAN THE PORTS. IS THERE ANY INFO, DIAGRAMS, WALKTHROUGHS, OR VIDEOS THAT CAN HELP??? thanx
assuming you have the f22 or a 23 motor.. find your egr valve. when looking at your engine it should be to the left of the fuel rail. to clean the ports you will need to remove the fuel rail. under the rail there is a aluminum egr runner "compartment" is what id call it. it will be held by about 4 bolts that attach it to the intake manifold. take it off and open it up and clean it out. underneath this compartment will be 4 holes that lead into the intake manifold. alot of times they will be completely carbon locked. so break out a small drill bit or really thin chisel/screwdriver deal and clean that crap out. buy some carbon cleaner spray it around in the runners to help. you should replace the gaskets so you dont have leaks in your egr system if you dont you could run into a vaccum leak later. use a shop vac to suck up the as much carbon as you can. the carbon that gets down into the intake is not a huge issue as it will pass or burn up through the combustion process. hit me up if you need more help.
The F23 does not have an access plate or EGR plugs on the runners. The plunum has to be removed. With the upper plenum removed, as youre looking at the engine, the egr port is on the left side of the lower intake. Clean it out with carb cleaner. Clean the upper plenum as well.
