Default d15b7..bored out TB and port and polished head?

will this be worth doing on a d15b7 motor? i'm thinking about getting it done, but i don't want to waste my time and money if its not worth it.

thanks,

im gonna be honest
not really.
its a simple fact, the d series motors are NOT made to go fast. it can be done, with LOTS of money. but its not easy. the gains would be minimal

the money would be better used saving for a swap (if you can do that)

KAMiN, i see you have a b16a2, so how was the feeling of it when you put it in?
thats what i'm thinking of putting in my hatch. i think my civic is in the high 15's now with the d15b7, which is okay for me know, but i'm getting the feeling that i want more and more power each time i drive my civic. so yes, the swap will come, just not right now. i will have it though.

well, my car hit a 16 flat with just a cai and exhaust. now i put a crx si cam, cam gear (aem), and a d16z6 tranny. so i think i'm in the high 15's with that. i need to get to the track and run it again to see. the swap is still up in the air for me though.
i would like to get my 1.5l in the 14's, that would be sweet. i already like seeing the look on peoples faces when they loose to a 1.5l.

i loved it
it went from a 17 second slow piece of ****
to a 15 second slow piece of ****.

before you start throwing money into your d16
think about your options
do you want to spend 400$ to get it ported or save it for an engine?

your hitting 15's with that b16a2 and i'm hitting 15's with my 1.5l d15b7. i've already beaten 99-00 si with my hatch and i just have a 1.5l. i can get my head and tb done for $125 not $400. the swap is still in the air for me. i've even beaten a 93 hatch with a b16a2 in it. don't know if anything was wrong with his car, but i beat him 4 times. 2 times from a stop and 2 times on a roll. i think if i get this done, i should be maybe in the mid 15's or so.

if all u want is 15s and 14s..there really no need to spend 2500-3000 to do that.

Mista Bone,

i know you have told me things before and i've done it. crx si cam, d16z6 tranny, and i went a head and got the cam gear. next you told me that i need to tune my car to get it running right, but i'm new to all this stuff, so what do you mean by tune? i've searched the threads, but have not really found anything on how to exactly tune my car. i know i can get my d15b7 into the high 14's, i just need help on doing it and what my next mod should be. all you have to do is tell me what to do next and more than likely, i will try to get it done. so how does the port and polish and bored out tb sound with a thinner head gasket (more compression right)?

get it to the track, ALOT. $10 a weekend for test-n-tune will give you more benefits than messing with the head right now.

I made over 250-300 passes on the old D15B7, really shows now. I can make small changes and see the results at the track.

got it. i have been playing around with advancing and retarding the cam gear by just 2 degrees. i feel a difference both ways. i like it advanced, but my top end sucks. i really haven't drove it that much with it being retarded. of course i definately need to get it to the track.

as far as getting the head and tb done, a friend of mine at work went to school to learn how to do that stuff. he's the one who's going to do it for me for that price. he'll make more money off my friends if i get it done and it helps cause they will want it done also, if i tell them what i did.

i just got a pm from a guy that said he'll sell my a chipped ecu for the dx. i might try that if he'll give it to me for a good reasonable price.
