K20 SWAP is it worth it????
i picked up a nice eg shell and i wanna drop a k20 but in all reality is it worth it or should i just stick with a b-sieres the aftermarket is plenty big for both but is the k20 worth the extra couple grand to swap???? im all about the k20's pimp factor but to be honest function over fashion

You could try searching for other posts about the K Series motor, last time I checked there are a few. K's are more than the worth the money. A stock K in a EG will have you running low 13 quarter mile (maybe better, depends on if you can drive well).

What's your budget on the powertrain section of your build? What are your goals? What is the use of your car?

With 5 grand you won't be able to pull off a k swap. I know some people have, but it's rare.
You could turbo an LS with 5 grand.

Re: K20 SWAP is it worth it???? (slacker12785)
I mean you prob could do it for 5 grand.
k24a2 2000 shipped
ep3 tranny 500
clutch fly used 300
crappy header 300
exhaust 150
type s harness 150
wire up your own crap 50
used mounts 300
used fuel stuff 200
reuse your crappy rad and trim your fan to make it slim - free
misc sensors needed 250
type s tb and adapter 250
axles $150
That's $4400. It would prob take you about a year to find some of those prices as well.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff but this is the most basic you can get, and it's cutting every corner. Or, you can go cheaper and pickup a k20a3 complete for under $1500 (i believe). That's the crappiest K out there though.
IMO, do it right. With that budget, I'd go with a built ls with gsr or b16 tranny. IMO, it's not about trying different stuff, it's about finding something that WORKS.

ya, k is the shiet but its hard to justify when you can have a boosted b series. For probably cheaper. K swap wont go for 5 geez.

do it man! on turboforum.net they have a k series swaped hatchback with stock internals intake exhuast and he races and evo on the highway and pulls from it. its unique then jus ls or b series the thing i like about it is that it has torque. savea little bit more money and sink a k series in that hatch itll be alot better then jus the ussual ls and what not plus when u go to sell it i see people sellin eg hatchs with k22 in them for around 10 grand.

Re: K20 SWAP is it worth it???? (DFW)
k is the future of honda cars but right now its not worth the time-money to do it. Dont get me wrong i love the motor and its badass but u could get a h22 boosted for the price of the k The axles are hardest part i know a local guy that pays 600 for stage 2 and brakes them if he drives it hard at the track (runs a low 14 but doesnt launch it) stage 3 are 1200$ If u have the money i would say do it since its the future but if u dont have the money or just have enought to put it in then dont cause it will be way over 6k my buddy paid 10k when it was said and done it was the first in idaho but it was 10k here is the link of the thread we had going
that guy also had one of the first headers made for it 1500$ (no joke)
http://www.idahostreetracing.c...=6458 read it all has some prices and pros and cons

i dont think its all that worth it, i noe someguy that had it(but he own's a swapshop) and he said that it's not worth it....and this past weekend at the street races, i saw a k20 eg, raced a lsvtec(itr pistons, sks2 cams) crx both cars were on a 130 shot nos, slicks, and the crx lost by half a fender due to the wet ground... go with bseries lolz

the video you are thiking of is on hybrid-racing.com, and they have everything you need for a complete swap into an EG. they have custom harnesses, and axles for the car. also there website is a good starting place for any K series swap.
