Default First turbo, coolant line question.

I'm turbo charging my stock d15b7 in less then two weeks. I plan on running no more then 8 psi on this set up. I've assembled some random parts to get it all together so far, my set up is.

used volvo Tdo4h-13c
dsm 450 injectors.
Ebay blow off valve kit
ebay intercooler
ssac manifold
walbro 255lhp fuel pump
glow shift oil sandwich plate
oil and pressure gauges.
diy boost controller

I still need my waste gate,dp ecu, and the intercooler piping.

This is my first turbo I've ever built. So I have a few questions.

1. My turbo is both an oil and water turbo, but I've been seeing people saying that they just block off the water lines and have had no problems with it. Can I do that with this turbo and not worry about blowing anything up? If I have to use my coolant lines, where do you mount them too?

2. I want to run an external wastegate, but mine came with an internal one. I came up with the idea of mounting the stock one and just leave out the vacuum lines. Is this a good way to lock the flapper?

I've searched here and a few other sites, but couldn't get a straight yes/no answer for any of them. TIA for any help.
