long story short, bought a new hatch, cluster didnt have gas needle, swapped a new cluster in, gas needle works. now heres the problem, when i fill the tank all the way up the needle sinks right to the bottom and kinda moves a little. then when i get to about between 3/4 and 1/2 tank it starts working correctly. then when i get to about 1/4 tank the car starts stalling randomly like im out of gas? could a bad ground cause all of this? and wherre could i find it?

 

i would think you prolly have a sending unit issue not installed correct or broken people mess them up alot changing fuel pumps

 

do i need to drop the tank to fix this? or is it under the rear seat?

 

gotta drop the tank.

about the stalling-
your pump might not have access to the rest of the gas in your tank if someone ghetto rigged the pump assembly. if you drop the tank check it out.
