OK im not to mechanically inclined but I need a few questions answered. A bolt holding a pulley for one of the belts snapped in my car the other day. Can anyone tell me what pulley this is and what belt it is for?

The belt is still attached and spins on the other two pulleys that are holding it.

Is it still ok to drive the car?

Idler pulley. To help keep tension for the AC belt.

 

Thanks for the reply. I cut the belt off since was all tore up from the pulley bouncing around.

Is it okay to drive without the A/C belt?

 

For the time being, yes.

If you plan on using your AC system in the coming months, replace the belt asap.

funny how i have the problem..well, in my case the idler pulley seized, locked up and shredded the belt..

 

I just pulled mines off cuz my ac compressor was making noise.
