Just bought an 02 type-s. It had a motor swap out of another rear ended type-s and the work looks to have been very clean. However at close inspection i found one line disconnected and was wondering what it goes to. Car is running amazingly, so It doesnt seem like a vacuum leak. Anyway, any help would be great (pic is from another car for example). Thanks!!!

 

First guess would be vacuum or emissions related, second manifold preheater (must be blocked somewhere).

 

Manifold preheater/warmer is exactly what that is you've circled. Really you can leave it disconnected it doesn't hurt anything, some have driven all winter with no problems. I've been thinking about disconnecting it myself.

there are a lot of lines like that that are not needed. I've ditched them all lol

 

really? his air intake temp isnt hookek his valve cover is just open to outside air

 

Yeah I should probably plug that. Its a preheater though, so it is a water jacket that runs through the manifold. Probably wont hurt anything.

 

i can really just think of that being unnecessary.. everything else ide leave in place..
