I have a competition clutches stage 2 clutch in my DA. Its about as heavy of a clutch as i would want to go for daily driving. I do plan on going turbo in the near future so that is why i have it.

What about those F1 racing clutches? I have seen those listed on some peoples mods lists and they are super cheap also. Does anyone have experience with them? I'm thinking that i might buy one of the F1 clutch kits that comes with the lightened flywheel also.

I saw that you had listed Exedy in your original grouping. May i suggest the Exedy stage 2 Cerametallic. I ran that for almost 2 years in my GSR and it held firm at 315whp/216wtq. When i removed it, you could hardly notice the wear. It was a very streetable clutch as well. I daily my GSR so that is a big factor for me...Its worth checking out

OEM
Exedy Stage I or ACT (HDSS or whatever they call the new one)

No need to get all fancy for 170whp....unless you have cash to burn, inwhich case you should get the exedy or OS Giken super single.

The only reason i would step up to something beyond an Exedy 1 or other OEM spec clutch is because they are organic plates. I would rather use something ceramic/cerametallic because, although they may be a little harsher, they will tend to last longer. They are also significantly harder to heat damage/ glaze.

Anyone have or know anything about the F1 racing clutches and flywheel, or have experience or anything at all with them?

i just got a new clutch kit and I got the exedy OEM it was cheap so if you just want to replace it...

i think later stage kits will be harder to drive too for everyday use

I ran an ACT HDSS Clutch on my GSR for 80,000 miles. The car made between 160-185whp during that time. It failed, three of the damping springs blew out of the friction plate.
I now run an Action 1MS clutch. On off feeling and less petal effort needed than the ACT, closer to stock. Very nice piece and I like it so far. I have only had it on the car for 250 miles.

I ran the same clutch in my dohc ef for 3 years with no problems and I beat the **** out of it.
I had a clutch masters in my first car and I liked it but only ran it for about a year.
I'm a comp clutch guy. Had one in my last car and now this car. Btw the guy who owns comp clutch used to work for clutchmasters and started his own business. Same stuff just cheaper priced.

Why does everyone keep listing years on a clutch? Please list the miles.
The 80,000miles on mine was over 6-7 years.
I also beat my ACT pretty hard, over 200 runs down the drag strip power shifting.

I've got maybe 50k on my Exedy OEM and it's fine. I expect it to keep going for a while longer.

I would say OEM or Exedy stage 1 would be enough for less than 200whp. When I put my b18c5 in my '92 GSR I used an OEM honda clutch. I was still able spin the tires like mad into second gear and could still chirp em easily going into third gear with the OEM GSR clutch. I still havnt worn out that OEM clutch at way over 60k but plan on upgrading to Exedy stage 1 with matching Exedy flywheel. The stage 1 is supposed to handle a 20%+ increase in torque. It is very difficult to make more than a 20% increase in torque without boost in these motors.
