Default Head studs for zc

im having yet another problem with my single cam. i had to change my headgasket yet again due to a faulty rad fan switch.

long story short, two of the headstuds right next to each other are stipped. not the bolt itself, but the top half of the threads IN the block.

if i torque down the bolts with the head off, i can grab some threads to spec torque (44ft pounds). as soon as the head goes on, i dont have enough thread to grab onto.

stock bolts are 5 1/2inch, i probably need 6 1/2inch bolts. so does anyone know if there are longer head studs for different D series? or if the B series head studs will fit? since they are open ended threaded studs?

i got some re-threading sleeve things that are meant to fit whatever thread pitch you want. they get shoved down in the hole and you simply screw in the bolt. well, i did this, and it still didnt really help!

the only thing that worked was removing the head so the bolts could thread in deeper. do i HAVE to drill out the hole before i use the tap? cuz im worried that if i drill it out, i'de go too far or somethin.

im affraid of going to deep and bottoming out.

but seriously, if i just tapped it wider, and used a wider head bolt, im sure i'de be fine. **** all i need is a straight all-thread stud and i'de be good to go.

you should call up a local machine shop and ask them?
idk if drilling into the block would affect anything?

i dont think i have to drill into the block. i just need 1" longer bolts and i'de be straight. there is some thread left, just cant reach it when the head is on...
