Default CD Changer Alpine

Hey are there FM Modulated and NON FM Modulated versions of the same Alpine CD Changer model numbers?
For example: If someone has a Alpine CHM-s601 and had a FM Modulator, would this Changer work with my 91 Legend stock unit without the FM Modulator?
I now know I can plug up a Alpine CHM- S601, 620, ect. but the FM Modulated thing threw me for another loop <*grin*>
Thanks. Billy.

can't you just buy that $30 honda to alpine adapter and connect the CHM-S01 or 620 via the DIN cable and forget about the whole FM Modulater unit?

Yes billy...it will work...the changer just plugs into the modulator...so if you have access to a fm modulator version...you can use it by eliminating the mod part.
You need the adaptor to make it work properly ( there are a few pinsthat are reversed in the setup...the adaptor corrects it)

If your factory Honda/Acura head unit has CD changer capability, I highly recommend using a cable interface that was mentioned to connect to your Alpine CD Changer.

Not only are you able to utilize the CD functions straight from the factory head unit, but the CD sound quality will not be limited to the FM receiver section of your stock radio. A direct connect will always be better than going through the FM radio using a FM modulator.

If you're so inclined you can make the modification to the Alpine cd cable yourself. You'll just have to switch two pins in the cd cable's DIN plug. I did it myself in less than 5 minutes, and it saved me $20-$30. If you know how to solder then you should try it.

Here's the URL for that mod:
