Default vtec head on non-v block

my engine started knocking in my 95 accord ex. there are a few wrecked non-vtec accords at my local junk yard. was wondering if i can use the short block from any of these with my head, similar to what you can do with the d-series engines. also if this is possible what is the newest short block that i can use? will any f22 block work?
