I don't know how this works but maybe somebody can help me I just got a 95 civic hatchback with a b18c1 motor in it and at start up it revs up and down fast for about ten mins until it warms up and after it still does it a little bit I don't know anything about motors so I came here maybe u can help me or know somebody that can...


P.S. Somebody told me it mite be the iec controler or something like that..

iacv, check that first

 

definitely check the iac valve (idle air control.)...try unplugging it

 

also check the fast idle thermo valve on the underneath of your throttle body. it controls idle when your car is warming up. iacv controls idle once the car is up to temp. either or both could be bad if it always does it

 

Thanks 4 the help I unpluged the iac and it stop'd rev'n loud but it still does it a lil bit do I need to clean it do y'all think that would help?

I just had the same problem............ Im building a sand rail with the engine though.

Here is what totally fixed if for me.
Bleed the air out of the coolant lines. There is a bolt with a nipple on the coolant housing at the front of the engine. start the engine and let it warm up . wear thick gloves and crack it open and bleed all of the air out.

Do this a couple time while keeping an eye on your rad coolant level.
