Default used d16 rods condition normal?

not sure where this really goes

how a rod looks when a bearing spins. i searched and only saw pix of the bearings but never how the rod looks.

so i have some used d16z6 rods i want to use with some pg6 pistons. as far as i know the motor i got the rods from has never spun a bearing. but when i removed the stock bearings there was this blackish marking. so i showed it to a friend and he said that the rods are bad and that they had spun bearings on all 4 rods. i said no i think thats normal. the motor has high miles not sure how much but its a sohc, im sure its over 120k. the bearings never showed any copper or anythign like that. i no longer have the bearings, so i can show how they looked

i know how a rod looks when a bearing spins, or at least i think i do, cuz had a d16y8 block that spun #3 rod bearing

are these rods ok, is this normal, cuz i have a few other d-series rods and they all look the same
rod #1

rod #2

rod #3

rod#4

here is another rod cap i had that cam off another motor, that had bad rings
cap, u can see the bearing is still ok but under it, was the same

here is how my y8 rod looks when the bearing spun
cap and rod

u can clearly see the rod is f'ed up

the y8 over a what think looks normal

so am i not educated enough on conditions of motors or is my freind right?

also user im done is sell b16 rods that look the same,

any help is apprecated

No, those have not been spun and should be rebuildable. Do not use them with having them rebuilt. The big ends tend to go egg shaped in service.

If you still feel worried about using them, I would have a machine shop hone the surface. That way you know it is round and it wouldn't hurt to throw in some new arp hardware for some extra insurance. You'll be fine though.

Yes, they should be rehoned. I would never reuse rods without rebuilding them. You at least need to have them measured with a proper rod gauge to check for out of roundness. No one on an internet forum can tell you if they are OK by looking at them in a picture.
