used rods?

my friend is rebuilding his gsr because his oil line blew out and he spun some bearings
damage was:
every rod bearing was damaged
thrust bearings were smushed on one side other side was fine
the rod bearings in every rod were spun, not to the point that they werent there, but enough to smush them and heat the rods up to a nice purplish tint
he is wanting to know if the rods are reusable if he got them honed

ahh.. depends how much they have to take off, with that much damage, and a set of rods being only 300$, and the machine work alone to fix them would be half that.. i would just get new ones and not risk it

thats what i recommended to my friend, and i will stick to it
maybe i can see what a machine shop says and sell them off for like 50 bucks to someone

sounds like the same problem i just had.
i would strongly recommend not to reuse rods, you're just asking for trouble. i would just pick up a new set from a machine shop for a fraction of the price.
