Default to vtec or not?

So I want to build a high compression single cam, but don't know which route to take. If I go non vtec ill be running a zc head with a cam re grind from bisimoto. With a d16a6 block. 2nd option will be a d16a6 block with p29's and z6 head. With obd1 conversion. I want to see what the positives and negatives will be with these set ups. Just want an opinion thanx

ill be doing something similar to your second option. y7 block, y8 block, p29 pistons so on and so on. If i remember correctly the p29 pistons and rods will make around 11.5:1 or more cr on my setup. i think it will be less on the z6 head but dont take my word for it, research it bro.

Exactly why I'm skeptical about the z6. I just want more power! Lol. I want power but don't want it to be a hassle

i have a feeling the *** dyno and the real dyno will be totally diffrent on that... i would go the first option if its good for emissions in your area... motors no good if you cant run it

He should be ok as long as you run a valve cover that doesn't say "vtec" you will do fine. I don't see why you would be sent to ref, unless your showboating.
