Engine options for '90 Civic Std.
Yesterday my brother bought a 1990 Civic Std. It's in pretty good shape overall but the engine is in somewhat questionable condition. So I'm wondering, if he does need to replace it what are his options? Is the D15B1 the only engine that will bolt up without any issues?
Well, I'm not interested in a swap, I'm just wondering what will bolt up on the stock mounts, with the stock FI and ECU. I'm wondering if there will be problems if I try to run a D15B8 (for example) because it's designed for MPFI. I guess it's kind of a vague question that probably wont get very clear answers, but I thought I would try anyway.
I just noticed that the DX engine was basically the same deal, just a different ECU, cam and some other minor things. That should open up the options that are available and make a replacement engine much easier to find. Just need to see if anything cheap is available locally, the engine importers are a bit too expensive.
Thanks for the info guys.

get yourself a zc sohc motor from www.cncmotors.com for $450 like i did 3 weeks ago...its also only about $155-195 to ship from california to new mexico...!!!
That would actually be as much as he paid for the car lol. I found some base and DX Civics locally with engines for $175. I guess I just have to cross my fingers and hope that they're good engines.
He actually just called me, his car is dead on the side of the road, the oil light had been on so I think it's probably a bad oil pump.
