a gsr dif? that wont fit in an ls case would it? i thought b16 and ls were the same but gsr dif was different
You cannot bolt the GSR ring gear to LS diff. It will also interfere with countershaft, hence needing the gsr countershaft. You can, however put complete GSR ring gear, diff, counter and main shafts INTO LS hydro case. Not sure if that's what you meant.
GSR diff is different, that's why you have to use it if you want to use the GSR FD. GSR diff fits in the case. Easiest way to get the 4.40 FD would be to just use a B16A2 FD.
