ITR Mani install on B18C4
Just picked up an MB6 VTI-S, i want to change the OE manifold to an ITR. What do I need to know about doing this swap, is it a direct bolt on? Do i need to find one with sensors on it or will the C4's sensors swap over? Will it need to be tuned after the install? Help me out.
My memory may be off, but B18C4 is very smiliar to B18C1, from block to head. So the ITR manifold won't bolt up to the C4 head.
People end up going with a ITR style manifold like skunk2's.

b16, and the b18c (type-r) are have the same casting. the b18c (b18c1, b18c4, b18c sir-g) have the same casting.
there is a coolant hole that the type r mani has that the b18c doesn't have. you have to weld it shut, and one of the studs won't fit, you'll have to mod the mani to fit.

leave the car alone my friend the intake manifold that come in your b18c4 is equipped with a secondary flap and serves a very good purpose which is to boost bottom end power which is a very big thing for countries like england where there is heavy traffic and strict laws to what you can and cant do to your car.
you would notice a good power difference by switching to higher comp pistons, performance cams and a proper dyno tune especially since you have much higher octane and a better quality in the fuel you get vs north america.

some of the best answers have already been given. if you do get a manifold i would look into importing the edelbrock performer x. it's really the best idle to 9000rpm manifold for a 1.8L engine. also, if you do this make sure you correct fuel pressure at a minimum with a wideband. a true tune with a timing adjustment under 5500 vtec reset at 5500 would be even better but a fuel pressure reg and wideband can make this manifold safe on a stock p72 map.
the timing correction is needed for optimum performance due to the decrease in low rpm air speed from the larger single manifold runners. above 4400 the map should be really close since it's somewhat similar airflow due to the secondaries on the stock im being open.
